Church Women Benevolent Group meeting for lunch
The Church Women Benevolent Group of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will meet for its bimonthly luncheon at noon Thursday at SunnyBrook Assisted Living.
All church women are invited to participate.
Women’s shelter topic of Ruth Circle meeting
The Ruth Circle of First United Methodist Church will meet at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Meth-O-Weds classroom in the church basement.
Garnetta Dittrich will be speaking about the Ottumwa Crisis Center and Women’s Shelter, which provided service to Jefferson County and other nearby communities. The shelter has closed due to a cut in federal funding, and the state has been split into regions of service, which will each have one or two shelters, a sexual assault service provider and a domestic abuse service provider.
Domestic abuse services are continuing in Ottumwa. The crisis line, 800-464-8340, is answered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Anyone interested in hearing about the crisis center and women’s shelter can attend.
