Southeast Iowa Museum Crawl stops at Maasdam Barns
Harold Smith drives his draft horse team giving visitors wagon rides around the Maasdam Barns during the inaugural Southeast Iowa Museum Crawl Saturday. Visitors to the featured stop in Fairfield were able to visit the museum, wander through the barns, watch demonstrations of lifting straw bales into a hay loft, cheer on 4-H and FFA members in old-fashioned relay races and purchase refreshments grilled and served by the Jefferson County Youth Committee. Other featured stops on the museum crawl were the American Gothic House Center in Eldon, the Pearson House Museum Complex in Keosauqua and the Davis County Historical Complex in Bloomfield. Many other historical sites, like the Carnegie Historical Museum, also were open during the event organized by Pathfinders RC&D.
