Special service features jazz band
First Presbyterian Church will present a special service at 9:30 a.m. June 30 featuring the Fairfield All Star Jazz Band.
The Rev. Joe Phipps, pastor of the church, invites community members to attend the “enlightening and inspirational” service.
Phipps will mix scripture and an inspirational message, with special music performed by church organist Betty Mayer and the 16-piece jazz ensemble.
Songs to be performed include: “Wade In the Water,” “Beale Street Boogie,” God Bless the USA,” “Full Moon Blues,” “Swingin Low” and others.
Members of the Fairfield All Star Jazz Band performing at the service include Gary Roth, Sarah Flinspach, Jay Stookesbury, Ken Burns, Rodger Gillaspie, Fred Hucke, Sue Hucke, Francis Thicke, Mark Mayer, Jim Edgeton, Tim Nelson, Claudia Sloat, Ron Prill, LeAnne Edgeton, Sue Burns and Ken Norton.
Following the service, the Presbyterian Women will serve brunch.
Reservations are not requested, but are requested. Reservations can be made by calling the church office at 472-4315.
A freewill offering will be accepted for the brunch.
Everyone is welcome to attend both the special service and the brunch.
