Van Buren Football

The Van Buren football team lost Friday to Lone Tree 28-0.

The Lone Tree defense frustrated Garrett Saunders, holding him to 108 yards passing and seven yards rushing.

Casey Jones led the Warriors defense in tackles with 14. Saunders made 11 tackles on the night. Hunter Coffman had eight tackles.

Brayden Starnes caught two interceptions.

 

Fairfield JV

The Fairfield JV football team defeated Fort Madison 35-20 Monday at Trojan Stadium.

Alex Christensen led the Trojans with 168 yards rushing and five touchdowns. Christensen also had 39 yards receiving.

Quarterback Tanner Deao threw for 132 yards and ran for 27 more.

Bryce Lunsford led the defense with eight tackles, two of which were for a loss of yards.

The JV team is 4-2 and will play Monday at Centerville.

 

Swimming

The Fairfield swim team competed Monday at the Williamsburg Prairie Duals.

Fairfield finished third in the 200-yard medley relay with the time of 2:15.30. The relay team is Baylee Bowman, Brynna Bowman, Jada Lippincott and Lauren Ward. The same relay team won the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Lippincott finished third in the 50-yard freestyle with the time of 28.36.

Baylee won the 100-yard freestyle with the time of 1:00.55. Brynna and Lippincott finished third and fourth in the same event.

 

Bowling

The Bloody Mary’s won week seven of the Breakfast Club bowling league.

The teams who finished second through 10th, in order, were On the Edge, The Morning Glory’s, Lucky Charms, Kessel’s Conoco, Sweet Rollers, Country Gals, Horizon’s Unlimited, Flamingo Lanes and Kiefer Enterprises.

Heather Swan bowled a 199, which was the highest scratch game of the week.

Week seven of the Chief League was won by Best Western. Kurtz Dozing, Holder Plumbing, Queen Pins, Odd Balls-Taco John’s, Hideaway and Hideaway 2 finished second through seventh.

Andy Audas bowled a 220, which was the highest score of the week and the second highest score of the year for the Chief League. Cindy McWhirter bowled a 207.

 

MSAE Volleyball

The Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment hosted a triangular tournament Monday. The Pioneers played against New London and Harmony.

New London defeated MSAE 25-3, 25-3, 25-7 and Harmony beat MSAE 25-17, 25-19, 25-6.
