Iowa’s McCaffery apologizes for outburst

DES MOINES (AP) — Iowa coach Fran McCaffery has apologized for an outburst that got him ejected from Sunday’s loss to No. 4 Wisconsin

McCaffery was called for back-to-back technical fouls and tossed from the game for arguing with officials with 12 minutes left. The Badgers rallied for a 75-71 win.

McCaffery says in a statement that he’s sorry for his emotional reaction. McCaffery says he has great passion and respect for the game and regrets that his actions put the program and the University of Iowa in a negative light.

Athletic director Gary Barta says he has already met with McCaffery and that McCaffery “knows he crossed a line of acceptable behavior.”

Barta also says that McCaffery has his full support moving forward.

Cancellations

The Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department announced today there will be no adult volleyball tonight or youth basketball skills at Pence Elementary School due to the extremely cold weather.

Another park and rec event scheduled today, Ide’s gymnastics and trampoline, is canceled and will be made up at the end of the season, Feb. 17.
