Iowa State Patrol reported an accident at 7:40 a.m. Sept. 28, in Keokuk County. Josette Nadine Gillam, 38, of Ollie, was driving a 1991 Buick east on Highway 78 and began turning left into Adrian Trucking Inc. driveway. Jessica Nichole Heaston, 16, of Fairfield, was driving a 1998 Ford XPL west on Highway 78 and the two vehicles collided. Gillam’s car rotated and came to rest in the north ditch. No injuries were reported. The Buick sustained an estimated $2,000 in damages. The Ford had an estimated $5,000 in damages. Gillam was cited for driving while suspended; failure to yield upon making a left turn; and failure to prove financial liability, accident related.

Jessica Nicole Johnson, 23, of Eldon was driving a 2002 Dodge Caravan west on Highway 34 when a deer came from the median in front of her at 6:45 a.m. Oct. 3. The car and deer collided. The Dodge had an estimated $3,000 in damages.

Halie Nichole Frankhauser, 16, of Brighton was driving a 1988 Honda Accord east on Highway 78, 1.3 miles west of Wayland, in a curved portion of the road. She said another vehicle crossed the center line and she steered to the right to avoid collision and went onto the south shoulder. She then oversteered to the left and lost control of the car. She yawed into the north ditch and struck the embankment with the car’s under carriage. She also struck a farm fence before coming to rest in the north ditch. Identity of non-contact vehicle is unknown. She was taken by Henry County ambulance to Jefferson County Health Center. An estimated $100 in damages to the fence; $500 to the Honda were reported.
