STOCKPORT

An Old-Time Music Jam is planned 1:30-4 p.m. Sunday at the Heritage Estates Community Room. Bring acoustical instruments and play along or just come and enjoy the music. A free will donation will be taken up to help defray costs.

Stockport United Methodist Church will host a Bluegrass Blondies concert at 7 p.m. Sunday. They sing and play Christian music with a bluegrass sound. A free-will offering taken.

Stockport Christian Church will have “Praise and Worship” night Sunday at the church. Everyone is invited to attend.

The first night of “Fireproof,” a six-week couples’ Bible study will be Aug. 20 at Stockport Christian Church.

The youth group lock-in pizza party is set for Aug. 22 at Stockport Christian Church.

School will be starting soon, so keep a sharp eye out while driving in Stockport for small children crossing the streets, and remember the speed limit through Stockport is 25 mph.

BIRMINGHAM

Bike Van Buren will be Saturday and Sunday. The rides start in Keosauqua each day.

Classes in the Van Buren Community School District start Aug. 20.

A blood drive will be 2:30-6:30 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Birmingham Lions Building. Walk-in donors are welcomen, but for an appointment, call Harry Anderson at 319-498-4201.

A small group of children attended the reading program at the Birmingham Library. They read and made crafts. The last day, they made slime.

Dee Spees furnished ice cream sandwiches for all.
