Sunday services begin again at Stockport

STOCKPORT — The Stockport United Methodist Church will have 9 a.m. Sunday services beginning Sunday.

Herb Shafer is the new pastor of the church.

 

Church Women Benevolent Group meeting Thursday

The Church Women Benevolent Group will meet for its bimonthly luncheon at noon Thursday at SunnyBrook Assisted Living.

All churchwomen are invited to participate.

The Church Women Benevolent Group was formerly known as Disciples Women Fellowship/Christian Women Fellowship.

 

Eldon church hosting Supper in the Park July 12

ELDON — The Eldon United Methodist Church will host Supper in the Park starting at 5 p.m. July 12.

The menu will include fried chicken, salads, Cowboy Beans, bars and pies.

A freewill offering will be collected for the supper.

 

Jones to speak about Uruguay July 13

Gavin Jones will give a presentation about his time in Uruguay with Campus Crusade for Christ at 1 p.m. July 13 in the dining room of First United Methodist Church.

 

Barbecue set for Blauvelts

First Presbyterian Church will host a “Get to Know You” barbecue for the Rev. Jeremy Blauvelt and family at 6 p.m. July 14 at the Francisco home.

Blauvelt is the new Christian education youth director at First Presbyterian Church. He is a graduate of Iowa State University and received his Masters of Divinity from the Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry. He served as a youth and family pastor for the Pass Christian Church in Mississippi for five years and was church rector in Congaree, S.C. for two years.

Originally from Washington, Iowa, he has returned home with his wife Jessica and their 3-year-old son Aric.

Blauvelt is becoming acquainted with the church this summer and his youth educational and fellowship programs will begin in the fall.

 

Vacation Bible school set at First Baptist Church

First Baptist Church will host Sonrise National Park vacation Bible school program from 6-8 p.m. July 15-19.

All 3-year-old preschoolers through fifth graders are welcome to attend the program, which will include Bible stories, songs, crafts, games, snacks and puppet skits.

A program for parents is set from 8-8:30 p.m. July 19 in the church sanctuary. The program will be followed by a reception in fellowship hall.
