The school supplies giveaway for school-age children in Stockport has been in full swing for the last few weeks. Anyone who lives in Stockport and has a child who still needs school supplies should contact Beverly Runyon by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 319-930-2352.
This is the second week of Fireproof, a six-week Bible study for couples at the Stockport Christian Church.

The Be All That The Lord Expects youth group, known as B.A.T.T.L.E., will meet for the first time this fall at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 9 at Stockport United Methodist Church.
The group will be meeting on Tuesdays, instead of Wednesdays this fall.
The Stockport City Council has a change of meeting date due to the Labor Day holiday. The council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at city hall.
Anyone wishing to address the council should call city hall at least 24 hours in advance to get added to the agenda.
The 64th Annual Stockport BBQ Days will be Sept. 5-7, hosted by the Stockport Lions Club.
The truck pull will kickoff the weekend with the weigh-in beginning at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 5 and the pull at 7 p.m. The Stockport Lions snack shack will open 6 p.m.
Sept. 6 highlights are a car show, tractor pull, parade, a pedal-tractor pull and the Stockport Lions barbecued lunch.
Sept. 7 events include services at Stockport United Methodist Church and Stockport Christian Church.
Food is available throughout Stockport BBQ Days from the Stockport Lions Club.
