Swimmer helped save drowning boy Sunday
A swimmer at the Roosevelt Aquatic Center helped save a young boy from drowning Sunday.
Kate Pettit was swimming in the deep end of the swimming pool at approximately 2:45 p.m. when she noticed a boy who had swum to touch the bottom of the pool had not come up. Pettit helped alert the lifeguards on duty of the situation, who then rescued the boy from the water.
Fairfield Park and Recreation Department recognizes Pettit for her heroism.
