Swimming lessons, meal, run to raise funds for pool
The Fairfield Park and Recreation Department will hold multiple events to fundraise for the new gym and pool project.
Swimming skills sessions will be offered Tuesday through March 14 and March 26 through April 4 from 10-11 a.m. and 4-5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The classes are for people of all ages, for swimmers with no experience to the most experienced swimmers. Jane McMahon will be the instructor.
The cost for the sessions is $40, and all the proceeds will go to the community recreation project.
To register, fill out a registration form online at www.fairfieldparksandrec.com or fill out a form and submit it, along with payment, to the Roosevelt Community Recreation Center.
A pasta fundraiser will be held from 5-7 p.m. April 6 at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center, with a free-will donation. Everyone is welcome. All the proceeds will go toward the gym and pool project.
A Color the Earth Run, an Earth Day-themed 5K walk/run, will take place April 13, with check in at 8 a.m. and the race beginning at 9 a.m.
The run will begin in Lamson Woods and go through the Chautauqua Park loop.
In this color run, participants will run or walk through bursts of fun colors while wearing a white T-shirt to create an awesome design. The color is non-toxic and safe for the Earth.
The cost for the color run is $35, with proceeds going toward the gym and pool project.
To register, go online to www.fairfieldparksandrec.com or call park and rec at 472-6159. Pre-register by April 12 and receive a T-shirt for the run.
