Team Fairfield Special Olympians to bowl in Cedar Rapids
Iowa Special Olympics Bowling was held at Fun City on Oct. 19 and 21 in Burlington. The athletes who won first place will move on to participate in the State Special Olympics to be held Nov. 23 in Cedar Rapids.
The athletes from Pence Elementary School, coached by Janet Morris, were Patrick Jones, third and Sam Clendenning, Participation Award.
Participating for Fairfield Middle School was Nathan Mathis, who received second place.
In the 16-21 age group for Team Fairfield, the athletes were: Jessica Clements, third; Ross Robinson, fourth; Nicole Cotner, third; Ashley Workman, third; Deja Redd, second; and Jinni Hanson, fifth.
Adult athletes for Team Fairfield were: first place: Macayla Coffin, Shannon Hinkle, Mark Miller, and Ronnie Withrow; second place: Joe Blain, Ed Hoyle, Sheila Lord, James Morrissey, and Darin Roth; third place: Dale Noe, Roiann “Louise” Thomas and Cody Harris; fourth place: Jerry Bissig and Sarah Coleman; and fith place: Fabien Tourenne and Kim VanRees. The Team Fairfield coaches and volunteers were Brian Simmons, Lorraine Hill, Kayla Stanley, Jazzy Hotek, Joyce Morrissey and Karen Hoyle.
