‘The Last Supper’ to be performed
The United Methodist Cooperative Ministries of Van Buren County is presenting the 42nd annual living dramatization of Leonardo DaVinci’s “The Last Supper.”
The hour-long drama, including music and worship, by Ernest K. Emurian will be presented beginning at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield; 7:30 p.m. Monday at Farmington Methodist Church in Farmington; and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at West Point Presbyterian Church in West Point.
A free-will offering will be collected at each of the presentations.
The re-enactment of the Last Supper was first presented in 1971 in Keosauqua. Since then, it has been presented more than 70 times in locations throughout southeast Iowa and Missouri.
John Preston and Larry Smith, both residents of Birmingham, are among those portraying the disciples this year. Beverly O’Brien will be the narrator. The county choir will provide a musical background. Pat Shaw and Ann Boley are the coordinators, and Shirley Munford is the choir director.
