Three athletes qualify for state bowling
OTTUMWA — Three Fairfield youth qualified for the Special Olympics state bowling tournament with first-place showings at the Southeast District contest held Oct. 22 at Champion Lanes in Ottumwa.
Pence Elementary student Jonathan Copeland, Fairfield Middle School’s Andrew Peiffer and Ross Robinson of Fairfield High School each finished first in their respective divisions. They will advance to the state tournament scheduled Nov. 17 in Cedar Rapids.
Other area competitors from Pence were Tate Jordan, who was runner-up, and fourth-place finisher Justin Cross.
Fairfield Middle School’s Daniel Farrell was fourth, while Nathan Mathis and Wesley Polson both finished in fifth place.
Jessica Clements took third place in the adults division.
