Three blood drives scheduled

Three Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center blood drives are planned in the Fairfield and Richland communities.

Fairfield High School will host a community blood drive from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 30 in the school gymnasium.

Donors who last gave blood on or before Oct. 5 are eligible to give at this drive.

All donors will be entered to win a $25 Casey’s General Store gift card.

The Richland community will host a blood drive from 2-6:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at Mother Cabrini Parish Center.

Donors who last gave blood on or before Oct. 10 are eligible to give at this drive.

SunnyBrook Home Care Center will host a community blood drive from 1-4 p.m. Dec. 6 in its conference room.

Donors who last gave blood on or before Oct. 11 are eligible to give at this drive.

Potential blood donors must be at least 17 years of age, although a 16-year-old can donate with a completed parental permission form available at www.bloodcenter.org. Donors must weigh more than 110 pounds. Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure can be accepted as eligible donors. A photo I.D. is required to donate.

According to blood center personnel, blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour.

Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is the provider of blood and blood components to more than 90 hospitals in Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin and Iowa, including Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.
