Tillis, Ashendorf married Feb. 6 at Maryland Zoo
Kendra Rae Tillis and Jusin Ashendorf, both of Towson, Maryland, were married the afternoon of Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, on The Mansion House Porch at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, Maryland.
The bride is the daughter of Vicki Tillis of Fairfield and the late Kenneth Tillis. The groom is the son of the late Douglas Ashendorf.
The double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Parker Sutton.
The bride wore a sleeveless, V-neck gown inspired by the blossoms of the Japanese cherry tree. The gown was covered in intricate lasercut petals, each hand-appliqued with a glass bead to airy tulle. The color of the delicate petals created a gradient of soft white candlelight at the bodice to a blushing pink at the hem. She carried a bouquet of pink and white tulips, accented with other flowers.
The matron of honor was Floriona Fleischer, friend of the couple. She wore a full-length, blush pink-colored dress, with illusion neckline and a showering of petals raising from embroidered vines.
The best man was Nicholas Fleischer, also a friend of the couple.
Music for the ceremony was a mixed CD of songs chosen by the couple and then given to each guest.
Tails, an African penquin, an animal ambassador from the Maryland Zoo, was in attendance for photos, while her handler answered questions about the animal.
A reception dinner for 17 was held at Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse in Baltimore. A rehearsal dinner was held the prior evening at Pf Chan’s China Bistro in Towson.
The bride is a 2006 graduate of Fairfield High School. She earned an Associate of Arts degree and an Associate of Sciences degree from Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa. She is a homemaker.
The groom is a 1999 graduate of Wardlaw-Hartridge High School in Edison, New Jersey and a 2003 graduate of Syracuse University in New York with a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy. He is an investor.
The couple make their home in Towson.
