Tourette Syndrome fundraising event planned
KEOSAUQUA — A fun run and walk and family-fun activities are planned Aug. 31 at Whispering Pines Winery Events Center to raise funds to benefit those with Tourette Syndrome.
Registration for the 5K Run, Walk or Tic, Iowa Tourette Syndrome fundraiser is 10-11 a.m. Strollers, skate boarders and bicylists are all welcome to enter.
The 5K race starts at 11 a.m. on on J40 blacktop road, just down the road from the Whispering Pines events center.
Advance registration is available at www.tsa-usa.org/teamtsa; click on the Keosauqua run under “Events.”
Pre-registration cost is $25 per person and includes a T-shirt.
The online registration ends Aug. 23, but participants can register the day of the event. The fee will be $20 per person, but will not include a T-shirt.
Following the 5K, family-fun activities are set from noon to 4 p.m.
Admission is $1 per person or $5 per family. The kids’ games will be 25 cents each.
The afternoon will include live bands, concessions, a silent auction, the Off Our Farm petting zoo, a bounce house and more.
The event is planned to raise funds for children to go to camp and Tourette Syndrome research.
The National Tourette Syndrome Association and Iowa Tourette Syndrome Association Support Group are committed to finding a cure.
The event will help to take further steps to conduct research to find a cure for Tourette Syndrome.
