Track season takes off in Iowa City
The 2014 Demon Indoor Girls’ Track and Field Meet was a showcase of the best talent from across Iowa in high school girls’ track and field. Fairfield girls were among the participants at the Recreation Building on the campus of the University of Iowa Tuesday.
This event offered the Trojan athletes a chance to compete early on in the season. Teams from all around the area participated, including Washington, Highland, WACO and Keokuk.
“This is kind of a meet where there are a lot of races for middle and distance runners because you can run multiple flights,” Fairfield coach Ron Hunerdosse said. “I was happy to see the girls get on the track. This is like a glorified practice but it enables us to get into better shape than in practice because the girls are actually competing.”
