Matthew Pemberton, left, of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association presents John Danielson, center, and Adam Ledger of the Jefferson County Cattlemen with a 6140 D John Deere tractor this morning at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. The Jefferson County Cattlemen won a six-month lease to the tractor from the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association as a prize for increasing its membership more than any other county cattlemen’s group in the past three years. According to the group’s secretary, Zoe Moritz, the group went from having 10-20 members to about 100 in just a couple of years. The county cattlemen sold the lease on the tractor to Danielson, who is pictured receiving the keys from Ledger, the club’s president. Danielson said he has plans to use the tractor later today, but that he wanted to break it in first by taking it for a spin. The tractor came equipped with a bucket and bale spears.
