Trampolinists grab seven golds Saturday
TRURO — Trampolinists representing the Fairfield Park and Recreation Department continued their recent “gold rush” at Saturday’s Masterpiece Trampoline Meet in Truro.
A record seven local trampolinists brought home first-place trophies.
Winners included Olivia McClaran in the 10-year-old Novice Girls Division and Nicholas Kaska in 9- and 10-year-old Beginner Boys. Bryanna Popejoy won the 12-year-old Beginner Girls Division, Gracie Simmering was first in the 8-year-old Novice Girls Division, and Ashlyn Elmore took home first in the 13- and 14-year-old Intermediate Girls. Justin Simmering (9- and 10-year-old Intermediate Boys) and Madalyn Rauscher (15-year-old Novice Girls) also struck gold.
A second-place trophy was awarded to Kiara Bickham in the 8-year-old Beginner Girls Division. Michelle Zhang (9-year-old Beginner Girls) and Ella Pollet (11- and 12-year-old Intermediate Girls) finished runner-up in their respective divisions.
Kristin Burnstedt rounded out the competition with a third-place finish in the 13- and 14-year-old Sub-Advanced Girls Division.
The team, which is under the tutelage of Jeff and Jeanne Ide, continues its high flying ways April 13 at a trampoline meet in Marshalltown. The gymnastics team, also coached by the Ides, will attend Fun Fest April 5-7 in Papilion, Neb.
