Trojans compete at Cornell today
The Fairfield boys’ track and field squad makes its 2017 debut today at Cornell College in a 25-team meet.
“We’ve had maybe the best early season weather I can remember in my 20 seasons,” said Trojan head coach Brian Dunlap. “This has allowed us to do a lot more event-specific training and puts us ahead of where we normally sit at this point in the season.”
The meet in Mt. Vernon begins at 4 p.m.
“It will be nice to put the spikes on, get some times and marks for kids, and compete early in the season,” Dunlap said. “This meet will give us a good idea what areas we need to work on and where some of our strengths may be.”
The meet takes place at Cornell’s indoor facility.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what a few freshmen and a handful of newcomers will bring to the table,” Dunlap said. “Hunter Drish, Brittan Bowman, Kosta Papazoglou, Jose Rojo, Tristin Waugh, Leone Gichure-Marira, Drew Martin, Matthew Swanson, and Bryan Wilkins will all be competing in their first indoor meet.
“It will be nice to see where we are at this point in the season.”
