Trojans knock off Big Reds in JV football
The Fairfield JV football team added one more win to its final tally Monday in the season finale against Centerville at Trojan Stadium.
Jonathan Hoehne had another big night for the Trojans, who topped Centerville by a final score of 20-14. Hoehne racked up 178 yards rushing and three touchdowns, and he also picked off a pass on defense in the second quarter.
Hoehne scored touchdowns in each of the first two quarters as Fairfield carried a 14-7 lead into halftime. The junior tacked on another in the third quarter and Fairfield held on for the six-point win. He also scored on a two-point conversion in the first quarter.
Tanner Deao complemented Hoehne with 50 yards rushing on the day. The sophomore quarterback completed passes to Riley Hammel, Zane Richmond and Keith Burns.
Defensively, Hammel recorded a team-leading six tackles. Richmond and Alex Christensen made four tackles each, and Landen Greiner grabbed an interception.
The Trojans finished their excellent season with a 6-2 record overall and 5-1 mark in District 7 play.
“It was a pleasure for Coach Dunlap and I to work with this great group of kids,” said Fairfield coach Brad Repp. “They played hard and all stuck together during the season.”
