Trojans, Panthers named to All-District teamsFive Fairfield seniors recognized
Five Fairfield Trojans seniors were named to the Class 3A District 7 All-District football team.
Vincent Horras made the team after having an outstanding senior season at tight end. Horras caught 33 passes that went for 353 yards and five touchdowns. He also made 18 tackles and one sack on defense playing as a defensive end.
Mason Ellis played on the offensive line and also was a starting linebacker for the Trojans. Ellis led Fairfield in tackles with a total of 51 on the season.
Brett Scott made the team after playing offensive tackle and defensive tackle. Scott helped pace Fairfield’s offensive attack and also made 30 stops on the year.
Wide receiver Alex Shier broke out this season as one of Fairfield’s biggest offensive weapons. Shier caught 35 passes that went for 519 yards and two touchdowns. His longest touchdown on the season went for 53 yards.
Jonathan Hoehne excelled at wide receiver and defensive back this season for the Trojans. He finished with 25 receptions that went for 271 yards and four touchdowns. He caught the longest passing touchdown of the season for Fairfield, which went for 57 yards and came against Fort Madison.
Fairfield also had many players make the All-District Academic team. This means that these players maintained a minimum GPA of 3.25. The seniors that made the cut are Horras, Shier, Ellis, Hoehne, Kooper Dahlstrom, Riley Hammel and Jordan Whitney.
The juniors who made the All-District Academic team are Tanner Deao, Drew Grunwald, Narendra Martin and Dakota Nye.
As for the Pekin Panthers, there was plenty of recognition to go around. Quarterback Kolby Allsup made first team in Class A District 6. The senior led Pekin’s offense all season from under center. Allsup threw for 551 yards and seven touchdowns. He rushed for 571 yards and found the endzone 10 times.
Brody Long, Eric Adam and Tanner Adam all made the first team as well. Cade Millikin, J.D. Hollingsworth, Christian Wittrock and Cole Reighard each made second team. Matt Jones and Chase Copeland were both honorable mention. Petie Clubb was recognized as the district co-punter of the year.
Bond led the Panthers on defense with a team high 110 tackles. He also recorded one sack.
Clubb may have made the team as a punter, but his efforts at linebacker and running back were vital to the Panthers’ success this season. Clubb rushed for 918 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also finished fourth on the team in tackles with 85.
A plethora of Panthers made the All-District Academic team as well. The seniors that made the team are Eric Adam, Millikin, Clubb, Jared Bond, Long and Bryan Brain. The juniors were Tanner Adam, Jeff Brain, Colton Lanman, Scott Entsminger, Logan Lamb, Kyle Miller, Wittrock, Jones, Reighard and Hollingsworth. The sophomores were Brady Donovan, Keaton Winn and Ryan Swanson.
Pekin received a special award from the IAHSAA for having a team GPA of at least 3.25.
