Two men rescued from river in Cedar Rapids
CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) — Two men have been rescued from the Cedar River near the Ellis Boat Harbor in Cedar Rapids.
Authorities say rescuers were dispatched a little after 7 p.m. Wednesday to help the men, who had gotten separated from their personal watercrafts.
Rescue workers and private boaters were able to pull one of the men from the water.
The other man was helped by 26-year-old Dillon Heinsius, who was on his personal watercraft when he heard the man's cries for help. Heinsius and a boater with a rope managed to get the man to the harbor's peninsula. The man was unconscious, so bystanders and police officers began medical treatment. Both men were taken to St. Luke's Hospital.
Their names haven't been released.
