Two people treated after fire in Cedar Rapids
CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) — Authorities say two people were hospitalized after a smoky fire that damaged at least three units at a condominium complex on the west side of Cedar Rapids.
The Cedar Rapids Fire Department says firetrucks were dispatched a little before 7:30 p.m. Sunday to the Shamrock Condominiums building. Firefighters say flames and heavy smoke were coming from one unit, but they were able to put out the blaze fairly quickly.
A man who lived in the unit suffered smoke inhalation and some burns. Firefighters say the fire aggravated the medical condition of a woman who lives in a nearby unit. The department says their injuries didn't appear to be life-threatening.
No injuries to the 15 other residents of the complex were reported.
