UPPER IOWA UNIVERSITY

FAYETTE — Carissa Nelson, an exercise and sport studies major from Bonaparte, was named to the Upper Iowa University 2013-14 spring dean’s list.

To be honored, the undergraduate must have earned a minimum 3.50 grade point average for the semester and be enrolled as a full-time student.

IOWA WESTERN COMMUNITY COLLEGE

COUNCIL BLUFFS — Fairfield resident Bradley A. Swank graduated and received an associate of general studies degree in general studies in May graduation ceremonies at Iowa Western Community College.

UNIVERSITY OF IOWA

IOWA CITY — Melanie Roth of Fairfield was one of approximately 80 University of Iowa College of Dentistry students to participate in the annual White Coat Ceremony May 9 on the UI campus.

The White Coat Ceremony honors first-year dental students as they move into the second year that involves their first patient experiences. The dental students were ceremonially cloaked with their first white laboratory coats and in the presence of family, friends and faculty, the students recited the Oath of a Dentist.

CORNELL COLLEGE

MOUNT VERNON — Joseph Gelfand of Fairfield was one of 250 students to graduate from Cornell College May 11.

Gelfand graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in politics.

INDIAN HILLS COMMUNITY COLLEGE

OTTUMWA — Indian Hills Community College recently recognized outstanding theatre students. Tyler Breeding of Fairfield and and Niccole Giberson of Packwood received participation medals for their work in Indian Hills Community College Performing Arts Department’s “Dracula” and “Macbeth.”

Lucas Burtlow of Ollie received a participation medal for his work in “Dracula.”

TRUMAN STATE UNIVERSITY

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — Tori Ogden of Fairfield was named to the Truman State University spring 2014 provost and vice president for academic affairs list.

To qualify for the list, an undergraduate student must attain a semester 3.50-3.99 grade point average and must complete 12 semester hours of credit.

Ogden is studying athletic training.
