Van Buren softball falls
NEW LONDON — New London pitcher Morgan Christner held the Van Buren softball team to just four hits Thursday in a 8-0 win for the host Tigers.
The New London batters, meanwhile, used a steady stream of hits and took advantage of a few Van Buren miscues in the field to score in every inning but the first.
Van Buren’s Kadie Meek went 1-for-2, and teammates Jansen Heckenberg, Payten Hughes and Hanna Haynes also tallied one hit apiece.
From the pitcher’s circle, Alicia Fitzsimmons allowed eight runs on five hits, though only three of the runs were earned. The junior also had four strikeouts.
The 2-4 Warriors look to get back on the winning track when they host WACO today.
