Very low wind chills on tap tonight
The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has issued a hazardous weather outlook for portions of north central Illinois, northwest Illinois, west central Illinois, east central Iowa, northeast Iowa and southeast Iowa, including Jefferson County, and northeast Missouri.
A wind chill advisory is in effect tonight for much of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois.
Wind chills will be bitter cold from zero to near 20 below zero today, then as low as 20 below to 25 below zero tonight.
Thursday through Tuesday outlook: A winter storm system will track just south of the region Friday afternoon through Saturday, bringing accumulating snows to the area.
At this time, it appears 1 to 3 inches of snow will be possible south of Highway 30, with the higher totals south of I-80 and east of the Mississippi River.
