Cardinal beats Harmony

The Cardinal volleyball team defeated Harmony 25-10, 25-9, 25-18 Thursday.

Leea Ostrander went 13 for 15 serving and recorded six aces. Shelby Smith was 20 for 21 serving and added in four aces.

Dakota Durflinger led the team with seven kills and four blocks. Schylar Conger and Cassidy McMartin each had two blocks. Amy Hart added five kills and five digs.

Katey Liles led the team in digs with eight.

 

FMS volleyball plays Mount Pleasant

The eighth grade volleyball team played Thursday at home against Mount Pleasant.

The A team lost 18-21, 9-21. Ashtyn Drish made 15 passes and Sophie Allen served 10 points.

The B team won 21-11, 21-13. The C team won 21-19, 21-6. Peyton Manley had 17 serves and 10 aces.

The D team finished off the evening by winning 21-13, 21-19. Madison Osborn and Amanda Carminhato each recorded two kills.

The team plays again Monday when Ottumwa comes to Fairfield.

The seventh grade team hit the road Thursday to play Mount Pleasant.

Fairfield swept Mount Pleasant on the night. The A team won 21-8, 21-8, the B team won 21-10, 21-12 and the C team was victorious by the score of 21-10, 21-2.

Paige Carlson, Kara Jeffrey and Hanna Harkins led the team in ace serves. The team plays again Monday in Ottumwa.

 

Fairfield Trojans tournament information

The Fairfield varsity volleyball team will play Saturday in Oskaloosa.

Fairfield, Gilbert, Grundy Center, Marshalltown, North Polk, Oskaloosa and Ottumwa are all participating in the tournament.

The games start at 8 a.m. and Fairfield kicks off the day by playing Marshalltown on the north court. The Trojans have scheduled games against Oskaloosa, Grundy Center and North Polk after that.

The JV team will be playing in Oskaloosa as well. Its game will take place at the middle school. Fairfield starts off the day with a game against Pella Christian.
