Volunteers needed for RAGBRAI events
Volunteers are still needed to help with events planned during the RAGBRAI overnight stop July 26 in Fairfield.
According to Elaine Hughes, executive director of the Fairfield Volunteer Center, volunteer opportunities are available in a number of areas, such as hospitality, the Guinness World Record attempt, the beverage garden and more.
Those who would like to volunteer to extend a hospitality to the RAGBRAI group by greeting riders helpng with signs and more can call Sue Gail at 919-5373.

• In the campgrounds to provide rider assistance and clean up;
• With the shuttle service to take money, stamp hands, be “tour guides” and more;
• With special events by setting up and tearing down in the downtown area; and
• At the various information center booths on the day of RAGBRAI.
Hughes said about 80 volunteers are needed to help pull off Fairfield’s attempt to break the current Guinness World Record for the most false mustaches worn at a public event. Training will be at 5:15 p.m. Monday at the convention center.
Participants will gather at 5:30 p.m. July 26 on the Jefferson County Courthouse lawn. Volunteers will pass out fake mustaches and numbered wristbands. Then, at a specific time, everyone, as a group, will wear their mustaches for a minimum of 5 minutes.
