Volunteers still needed
Area procrastinators can still volunteer during Friday’s RAGBRAI visit to Fairfield.
According to organizers, volunteers are needed in three areas:
• Work a few hours on a shift between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Friday in the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center at the Welcome to Fairfield table; chairs are provided, so bring a book to read or a deck of cards and volunteer with a friend.
Volunteers are needed to man a table indoors while greeting visitors, providing information about events and RAGBRAI happenings in town and offering bottled water for sale.
Contact Sasha Luce at 472-2787 or by email at email@example.com to volunteer to provide a friendly welcome to RAGBRAI bicyclists and visitors at the convention center.
• Two or three volunteers are needed as tour guides on school buses from 4-6 p.m. Friday.
Contact Tammy Dunbar at 919-2625 for information and to volunteer.
“It’s very low-key, we want volunteers on the buses to answer questions and point out the stops on these shuttle buses,” said Dunbar. “Fact sheets about Fairfield and Jefferson County will be provided, so volunteers don’t need to feel they have to know everything about the area. We want to provide friendly, welcoming local residents on the shuttles.”
• Help serve a spaghetti dinner at Saint Gabriel and All Angels Church. Help is needed with preparations, serving and clean up.
“This will be a fun event, helping Saint Gabriel's serve RAGBRAI guests and raising funds for building repairs,” said AnaVictoria Braun.
Call 451-1375 to sign up or email Braun at firstname.lastname@example.org to volunteer.
