Wagler family reunites

Oct 10, 2016

Thirty three years of meeting and camping hasn’t worn thin for the Wagler family. The weekend of Sept. 16-18 saw the gang roll into Morris Park in Van Buren County, where it set up campsites to enjoy beautiful weather and a big fire for everyone to share. The newest family member graced the event, Adeline Poggemiller, daughter of Austin and Ashley Poggemiller from Lockhart, Texas. The group had its Wagler Family Program Sept. 17 when Russell Klenk showed them his skill of blowing bubbles.

A few jokes were told by the Baltisberger sisters, Alyssa and Katie, with their friends Molly and Hope. “Where Oh Where Are You Tonight,” a Hee Haw skit, was sung by Mark and Pam Wagler with sister Jeannette Richardson, and a tribute to the family's late uncle Gal Wagler was heartily sung by Aaron Baltisberger, Rob Chaddock and Chase Klenk. The family performed the "Chicken Dance," which the kids enjoyed, and little Russell Klenk sang "Ten Little Indians" with his Great-Grandma Betty Carol Wallman.

After the program, the family ate a chili-dump supper accompanied by lots of other tasty treats. The next morning, the family gathered for breakfast after saying its circle prayer and wishing everyone great health and peace for the coming year. Some members returned home but others stayed for a few more nights of camping. Those who stayed received a surprise visit by the Mt. Pleasant Tractor Club, which drove around the campground to waves and smiles.

The campers this year were: Mark and Pam Wagler, Fort Madison; Jeannette Richardson, Sperry; Chase, Stephanie and Russell Klenk of New London; Aaron, Gwen, and Katie Baltisberger braved tents, along with Katie’s friend, Hope Juvinall, of Burlington; Rob and Darla Chaddock; Rodney and Betty Wallman, Yarmouth; April and Blake Wagler, Mount Union; Miles and Jenna Wagler, Des Moines.

The group's "Linger Longers" this year are: Rob and Darla Chaddock, and Bella; Jeannette Richardson and Mark and Pam Wagler.
