Moises Alfredo awoke at 4 a.m. Wednesday to begin clearing sidewalks in Fairfield. He was one of many Jefferson County residents who discovered this morning that the honeymoon with springtime weather was short-lived. The rain clouds that came through the area early in the week gave way to more typical January weather. The combination of ice, snow and wind caused area schools to shut their doors. Bad weather is in the forecast as temperatures are expected to plummet to 8 degrees tonight with a wind chill of negative five.
