Warrior boys place sixth at Central Lee relays
DONNELLSON — Van Buren placed sixth out of nine teams at the Hawk Relays boys’ track meet hosted by Central Lee Monday in Donnellson.
Fort Madison racked up 177 points to take the team title, Mediapolis finished second with 126 points and Keokuk scored 108 for third place.
The Warriors saved their best result for last Monday as the team of Brayden Starnes, Garrett Saunders, Wyatt Cole and Thomas Fitzsimmons finished second in the 4x400 with a time of 3:51.57. The foursome also had Van Buren’s second highest meet finish, claiming third place in the 4x800 in 8:58.
Dalton Haynes picked up a fifth-place finish in the 3200 (11:30), and Fitzsimmons added to his strong day with a fifth-place time of 5:05 in the mile. Drew Nolting rounded out the Warriors’ place winners with a sixth-place finish in the open-800 (2:26.53).
The Warriors are back in action Thursday at a meet hosted by Louisa-Muscatine.
