Wastewater plant problem caused spill in Crow Creek
The Fairfield Wastewater Treatment Plant reported a bypass of untreated wastewater of approximately 10,000 gallons. The bypass occured at the plant when a control malfuction occured on the pumping system at 1:47 p.m on Nov. 11.
Wastewater personnel responded and were on scene by 2 p.m. The problem was quickly resolved and all operations were normal soon after arrival.
The point of contact of the bypass was Crow Creek east of the treatment plant. There were samples taken of the creek at three locations. Tests are being performed with no adverse affect seen at this point as the creek was surcharged with rain flow.
