Waubonsie Trail Rendezvous set
CANTRIL — The seventh annual Waubonsie Trail Rendezvous First Nations People/Mountain Man Gathering is set Friday through Monday at Waubonsie Park in Cantril.
All pre-1840 traders and family campers are welcome.
Participants can set up after 4 p.m. Thursday and tear down after 3 p.m. Monday.
The camp will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday.
A buffalo dance is planned Friday night, with authentic woodland period music.
Saturday events include wine tasting, a black powder shoot, men and women’s hawk and knife throw and kids’ hawk throw and games. A camp feed is planned Saturday night. Organizers will supply the meat and participants should being a covered dish to share and personal table service. A round robin also is planned Saturday night.
A primitive bow shoot is planned Sunday. A candy cannon is planned, as well as a mystery event Sunday afternoon.
A Memorial Day ceremony is planned at 10 a.m. Monday to honor veterans.
People are welcome to bring cannons.
