Weather advisory: Dense fog now, cold coming
The national weather service in the Quad Cities has issued a hazardous weather outlook for portions of southeast Iowa, including Jefferson County, east central Iowa, northeast Iowa, northeast Missouri, north central Illinois, northwest Illinois and west central Illinois for today, tonight and Wednesday.
Dense fog can be expected over all of the outlook area today and is likely again tonight.
Visibilities are under a quarter-mile at times and will combine with spotty light rain and drizzle to make for a wet appearance.
Drivers will need to be prepared for very poor visibility; if driving, slow down, use headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of vehicle.
Dense fog may linger through Wednesday morning in many locations near and east of the Mississippi River until a cold front sweeps through the region.
This front will bring very cold air to the Midwest for the remainder of the week.
