‘Week of the Young Child’ starts Monday
Community Childcare Center and Preschool will be celebrating young children with a week full of activities for the annual “Week of the Young Child: Early Years are Learning Years; Make Them Count!” Monday through April 25.
Monday, the 3- and 4-year-old children at the child care center will be tie-dying T-shirts. Children should bring a white T-shirt to dye.
The children also will make a necklace or pin for their parents to wear all week in celebration of young children.
April 22, will be Backwards Day, and children will be wearing their clothes backwards.
Parents also are invited to eat breakfast with their children from 6:30-8:30 a.m. April 22 at the child care center. Biscuits and gravy, pancakes and sausage, juice and milk will be served. Parents are asked to sign up on the parent bulletin board inside the front door.
April 23, each room will have special guest readers, and children will be making their own pizzas for lunch.
April 24, the 3-, 4- and 5-year-old children and all preschool classes will play and eat lunch at OB Nelson Park. Weather permitting, plans are for the group to walk to the park at 9:30 a.m. and return at about 1 p.m. Children will need to bring a sack lunch for an 11:30 a.m. lunch. Parents are welcome to come to the park to eat lunch with their children.
Children in the 2-year-old group also can bring a sack lunch to eat at the child care center.
Later that day, the Fairfield Public Library is planning “Week of the Young Child” activities for children ages 3-5 from 6-7 p.m. The event is sponsored by Rolling Prairie Association for the Education of Young Children and all area preschools and day cares centers.
The special week will end April 25 with the Community Childcare Center serving ice cream sundaes to the children for a snack.
