The Fairfield High School 10th- through 12th-grade Winter Concert will be at 7:30 p.m. today in the FHS Auditorium.

The concert will a great mix of seasonal music, as well as classic instrumental and vocal repertoire. The show will include the instrumental groups FHS Concert Band, Fairfield Brass and Electric Jazz Band and the vocal groups: GYZ, GRLZ, Concert Choir and Vox, which will be joined by many freshmen students on one piece.

“For those who are new to this concert, we end it by inviting audience members on stage to sing the ‘Hallelujah Chorus,’” said FHS vocal music teacher Zach Reiter. “We always have a great turnout for this, and I would like to invite you personally to join us. We provide sheet music for everyone. The choir will be full of individuals who have done this song for years, and individuals who are trying it for the first time. I cannot think of a better way to show support for your student than by singing along side them.

“We want lots of people to join us,” he continued, “So if you are learning the piece for the first time, or just want the refresher, please click the link [at www.fairfieldsfuture.org/vnews/display.v/ART/51f3f394b2a4b?in_archive=1]. That is the rehearsal recordings page, which is where students can work on music, and the place where I have put recordings of each voice part of the ‘Hallelujah Chorus,’ so that you can be confident as you sing with us. Simply select your voice-part, and your computer’s default media player will play the recording for you so you can just sing along. You can even download the sheet music on the same page.

“The students have put a lot of time and energy into the music, and we look forward to sharing it with the community,” Reiter said. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students, with all activities passes accepted.

The band booster group, Band Aides, will be selling its remaining inventory of “Proud to be a Band Supporter” and “Proud to be a Band Parent” T-shirts before the concert. All shirts are priced at $10 each. The “Edgeton Army” T-shirts will be for sale at the $5 level.

All sales benefit FHS and Fairfield middle school bands.

Some student artwork will be on display in the auditorium lobby before the concert.
