WOB Academy performing Disney’s ‘Mulan’ at Sondheim
Way Off Broadway will present Disney’s “Mulan” Friday through Sunday at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center’s Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts.
Travel back to the legendary, storytelling days of ancient China with Disney’s ‘Mulan,” the action-packed stage adaptation of Disney’s film.
This WOB Academy production features all of the famous songs from the movie and the iconic characters appear in this family friendly musical.
“Mulan” is filled with a cast of more than 35 and showcases Julia Fritz as Mulan, Gareth West as Chang and Mya Gottshall as Mushu. It also features Ahillan Andhal, Megan Higgins, Amiritha Andhal, Jaiden Jarmosco, Marisol Braun, Claire Pettit, Ronan Malloy, Aaron M. Austin, Sam Spicer, Jerod Brown and Juliet Jarmosco.
Defying the village matchmaker, Mulan takes up arms and disguises herself as a boy in order to spare her father from having to serve in the army. The Huns have invaded, and it is up to the misfit Mulan and her mischievous sidekick Mushu to save the Emperor.
Disney’s “Mulan” is a heartwarming celebration of culture, honor and the fighting spirit. The show features a large ensemble of actors playing soldiers, family members and brides-to-be. The score includes favorites like “Reflection,” “Honor to Us All” and “I’ll Make a Man Out of You,” as well as new songs created for the live presentation.
Paul Praither produces, Randal K. West directs and choreographs, Margaret Clair musically directs, with multimedia by Robert Gottshall, costumes by Stacey Bailey, lights by Cevin Churchill, dance captains Julia Fritz and Megan Higgins.
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
