Cardinal volleyball travels at Sigourney tonight

By Justin Webster | Oct 17, 2017

The best part of everyone in Iowa competing for a state championship in volleyball, regardless of records, is teams like 8-21 Cardinal having a chance to make up for disappointments during their 2017 regular season.

The Comets and head coach Jerald Harter will travel to 10-16 Sigourney tonight in search of redemption, and a chance to advance to the next round.

Cardinal has one senior in Peyton VanBlaricom and will rely on the programs’ future stars to step up in an effort to stop Sigourney.

Coach Harter told The Ledger earlier this month that volleyball is meant to be a back-and-forth game, something his team struggles with when allowing large runs.

The winner will travel to Packwood to face 21-15 Pekin next Monday at 7 p.m. in the second round of the Class 2A-Region 5 bracket.
