4-H invites businesses to Trunk or Treat event

Oct 09, 2017

Jefferson County 4-H, the Greater Jefferson County Fair Board and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Jefferson County are extending an invitation for local businesses to participate in the annual Trunk or Treat.

Trunk or Treat will take place 2-5 p.m. Oct. 29 on the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.

Businesses and the local 4-H clubs line up their vehicles and invite the entire Jefferson County community to stroll from trunk-to-trunk collecting special goodies and treats, and playing games in celebration of Halloween. It is a safe event for the children of the county.

Businesses that participate are invited to dress up in their favorite costume, decorate a car trunk, box truck or stock trailers in a Halloween theme and hand out treats.

Last year, more than 650 children and their families walked from car-to-car collecting candy and playing games.

“We are anticipating great numbers again this year and can’t thank our community partners enough for helping us pull of such a grand event for the youth in Jefferson County,” said Rachel Wonderlich, county youth coordinator at the Jefferson County ISU Extension office.

Businesses interested in participating or needing more information can call the Extension office at 472-4166 or email rachel4h@iastate.edu.

Deadline for a business to show interest in participating in the Trunk or Treat is Oct. 20.
