7th, 8th grade football teams both defeat Keokuk

The seventh and eighth grade football teams both beat Keokuk Thursday night.

The eighth grade team won 8-6. James Lyman rushed for 104 yards on 13 carries. Steeler Higdon rushed for 29 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Kolten Webber and Dakota Storto each had a sack. Higdon led the way with four tackles.

“Really happy with the way the boys played tonight,” coach Joshua Allison said. “Overall good first game.”

The seventh grade A team won 48-0 and the B team won 14-0. Kosta Papagalouzou rushed for 149 yards and four touchdowns for the A team. He also had an interception.

Sam Mattson, A.J. Greiner and Clinton Morrison all had three tackles.

Salem Burks carried the ball into the end zone for the only touchdown of the game.  He also carried most of the Keokuk defense on his back for a 5 yard gain.
