Oct 19, 2012

BURLINGTON — Trojan swimmers Jade Greiner and Baylee Bowman and diver Katherine Mueller placed first in events Thursday at Burlington.

Greiner won the 100-breaststroke in 1:17 before scratching a pair of later races due to shoulder pain. Bowman was first in the 100-freestyle with a time of 58.02 seconds, and Mueller won the diving event with a score of 196.10.

Senior Jaci Bell scored 166.5 points to finish runner-up to Mueller in the dive.

Allison Angstead dropped two seconds in the 200-individual medley. Hanna Kerr and Macy Unkrich each shaved a second off their 50-freestyle times, and Shea Malloy dropped more than a second off her previous best in the 100-freestyle.

In the team race, the Trojans fell to the host Grayhounds 100-47 and took a 110-42 loss to Keokuk. The Chiefs defeated Burlington 94-72 to win the double dual.

The Trojans travel to Clinton for the regional diving competition next Thursday. Fairfield’s swimmers will be competing at the regional level Oct. 27 in Iowa City.
