Fairfield Convention and Visitors Bureau announces grant recipients

Feb 19, 2013

The Fairfield Iowa Convention and Visitors Bureau has announced its 2013 grant recipients.

The bureau awarded $14,000 to promote 24 events and activities this year. The purpose of the grants is to attract visitors to Fairfield as well as enhance the quality of life for current residents. The bureau does this by assisting organizations in providing cultural, civic and educational programs.

The Fairfield First Fridays Art Walk received 10 of the 24 individual grants. The programs in the First Fridays Art Walk series that received funding are:

Magic of the new year; Art of Love; Youth Art; Sing in Spring; Art in Motion; Iowa Heritage; Blues & BBQ Music Fest; Oktoberfest; Artisan Fair; and Holiday Extravaganza.

Other organizations that received grants, along with the event they’re sponsoring, are as follows:

Live on the Square: Summer Concert Series; Werner Elmker: Request Recital; Hometown Harvest: Farm Crawl; Fairfield Art Association: Summer Art Installation; Art of Dance: Nutcracker Ballet; Chamber Music Society: Violin and Piano Concert; Sac and Fox Lapidary Club: Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show;

Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts Artist Series: Claddagh; Fairfield Little League: State Tournament; Society of Fairfield Italian Americans: All Things Italian Street Festival & Masters Series; Fairfield Flying Service: Fly to Fairfield.

Rustin Lippincott, executive director of the Fairfield Iowa Convention and Visitors Bureau, said the bureau is excited to support the 2013 grant recipients that serve Fairfield-area residents.

The bureau’s grant program distributes financial assistance after receiving receipts and invoices, and after reviewing the recipient’s compliance to the conditions in the grant application. The bureau, along with the grant funds, offers assistance in marketing, public relations and event planning to grant recipients. The bureau grant program is supported by Fairfield’s lodging tax, created in 2001 by popular vote.
