Afternoon tea focuses on GMOs

By Anne Dietrich | May 16, 2014

To the Editor:

The Department of Sustainable Living of Maharishi University of Management is hosting an afternoon tea from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Saturday.

The American Medical Association has recently adopted a new policy recommending mandatory pre-market safety testing of genetically engineered food. Because it is important for mothers and others to know what they are buying at the grocery store and feeding their families, a national delegation of moms is being organized to meet with First Lady Michelle Obama. The purpose of this meeting is to request support for an Executive Order from the President to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, to require labeling of genetically engineered food.

If you believe pure food is an unalienable right – or care about what you eat – please join us this Saturday. Laura Ticciati, Founder of Mothers for Natural Law, Dr. Nancy Lonsdorf, M.D., author of “The Ageless Woman,” and I, Anne Dietrich, president of Truth in Labeling Coalition will offer how-to’s for shopping for food, eating at restaurants, and supporting the “Women in the Senate” campaign to label genetically engineered food. To learn more, or to R.S.V.P., call me at 472-0411. (This event is intended for women.)
