All-state tryout needs volunteers

Oct 18, 2013

Fairfield High School is looking for volunteers to help it host the Iowa All-State Music tryouts Oct. 26.

Volunteers are needed as:

• Warm-up room monitors to sit outside the room and monitor warm-up times.

• Audition room monitors to sit outside the room and monitor audition times.

• Ballot calculators to sit in the room and add numbers on the ballot for the judge.

• Office help to tally up ballots, post results and hand out information.

According to FHS band instructor Jim Edgeton, all of the jobs are easy to do, and no training is necessary.

Two shifts are available: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1-5 p.m. A volunteer can work either the morning or afternoon shift, or anyone interested in volunteering the whole day can work both shifts.

To volunteer, call Edgeton at 472-2059.

More than 1,100 musicians from schools in southeast Iowa will be at FHS trying out for the all-state band, choir and orchestra.
