Alumni band assembled for FHS homecoming game

Oct 04, 2016

In the true spirit of homecoming, the Fairfield High School Marching Band invites any and all past members of the band to join it Friday for a field show at the homecoming game.

FHS band director Jim Edgeton said he would like to have alumni band members join the high school band on the field for two songs during halftime. Edgeton will provide alumni with the music for “The Final Countdown” and the Trojan school song.

The alumni band will practice the music at 6 p.m. Friday in the new high school band room. Band members will be given a music folder when they arrive with the two pieces.

Edgeton asks alumni to bring their own instruments. Those who need an instrument can contact Edgeton before Friday to see if the band has the instrument on hand. He said he will have some middle school percussion equipment available for past percussionists on a first-come, first-served basis.

Past flag corps members will be supplied with flags.

“Even if you don’t have an instrument or don’t wish to play your instrument, we would love to have you be with us on the field during the performance of the two songs,” Edgeton said. “You can stand with your section in recognition of your past experience and in support of the current high school players.”

For questions or to check on the availability of instruments, call Edgeton at 919-3343.
