Aug 14, 2014

OTTUMWA — Ottumwa Community Players kicks off its 61st season of nonprofit theatrical productions with Stephen Sondheim’s “Company,” a musical comedy about adult relationships.

The show focuses on a single man, Bobby and five married couples of varying ages, all of whom are his best friends, plus Bobby’s three girlfriends.

Auditions will be held from 7-9 p.m. Aug. 22 and 2-4 p.m. Aug. 23 at Ottumwa’s Bridge View Center. Call backs will be held the following day. The Ottumwa Community Players production is being directed by Jim Clingman, assisted by Megan Bell, and with musical direction by Michael Philipsen.

Show dates are Nov. 7-15 at Bridge View.

All performers in “Company” will portray characters age 18 and older, and all roles require singing. Little to no dancing is involved in the show. Men and women of all ages can audition. Be prepared to sing at least 16 bars of a show tune from any show. Bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided.

If additional information about “Company” is needed prior to auditions, find Ottumwa Community Players on Facebook or call the director at 641-777-3468.
