Washington Elementary School first-grader Noah Reinier draws a picture inside a large puzzle piece. The students’ puzzle pieces will be joined to form a tree in the school’s hallway. The students did the activity as part of Autism Awareness Month, which is April. Students listened to a book about a similar aged student with autism. They then drew on a puzzle piece why they are unique, what makes them special, or something they are good at. The autism puzzle piece is a symbol to build awareness and show support toward the diversity of people and families living with the condition.
